1      The face of love is gazing down upon us

        Compassion of our Saviour, affection of a Friend

        He didn't come to bring us condemnation

        But to pour out his life unto the end.

2      And in his eyes we see the tears of anguish

        The overwhelming sorrow, oh how can we begin

        To understand the depth of desolation

        When for our sake the sinless became sin?

3      But from his mouth we hear no words of protest

        He bears it all in silence, authority is his.

        He prays "Forgive them, Father" when they mock him.

        How can there be a greater love than this?

4     The face of love is gazing down upon us

        In triumph "It is finished", he cries the victory won

        In Jesus' death, the curse of death defeated

        In his new life, eternal life begun.
