SHINE IN OUR WORLD
Shine in our world, O Light eternal,
shine into our souls, O perfect Light;
Banish our fears, dispel the darkness,
make our homeward pathway bright.
Open our eyes to see Your holiness:
Blazoned before the world began,
Focussed here in bounded lowliness
brightly in the Son of Man.
Speak to our world, O Word eternal,
speak into our minds, O living Word;
Teach us the truth, confute our errors,
help us to share what we have heard.
Open our ears to hear Your wisdom:
Word that engendered time and space,
Translated here for our perception,
brought to us in love and grace.
Come to our world, O Son eternal,
come into our souls, O firstborn Son,
Dwell in us, direct our actions,
show in our lives what God has done.
Open our hearts to know Your presence:
Great 'I Am', through realms unknown,
Fashioned here in human body,
pleased to embrace us as Your own.
Reign in our world, O King eternal,
reign over us all, O gracious King,
Prince of Peace through endless ages,
righteousness and justice bring.
All in heaven rejoice to serve You,
soon every knee on earth must bow!
God with us, most gentle Saviour,
help us to know You, here and now.
